Amazon reportedly plans to cut around 30,000 corporate jobs
Amazon is reportedly preparing to cut up to 30,000 corporate jobs — its most significant reduction since 2023 — affecting HR, devices and services, operations, and more. The move follows internal plans to adopt more AI agents across the company.
Amazon may be preparing to implement its largest round of job cuts since 2023.
According to a Reuters report published on Monday, sources familiar with the situation say that up to 30,000 corporate roles could be eliminated beginning Tuesday. The reductions are expected to span multiple areas of the company, including human resources, devices and services, operations, and other departments.
The company has not carried out a job reduction of this scale since cutting 27,000 positions starting in late 2022.
Over the past few years, Amazon has made smaller layoffs across different teams. Earlier this year, in January, the company trimmed a limited number of jobs within its Communications and Sustainability divisions.
The news also follows a CNBC report referencing an internal memo from CEO Andy Jassy, noting that as Amazon increases its use of AI agents, the organisation will require fewer corporate employees.
Amazon has not yet responded to requests for comment.
