Anthropic expands compute partnership with Google and Broadcom as demand surges

Anthropic announced on Monday that it has entered into a new agreement with Google and Broadcom to significantly expand its processing and compute capacity to support its Claude AI models. The updated arrangement comes as demand for Anthropic’s AI systems continues to rise rapidly.

Under the new agreements, Anthropic will increase its use of Google Cloud’s tensor processing units (TPUs), which are advanced AI chips designed for large-scale machine learning workloads. This move builds on an earlier agreement signed in October 2025, which already provided the company with more than a gigawatt of compute capacity.

According to the company, the additional compute resources are expected to come online in 2027. While Anthropic did not disclose full details about the scale of the expansion, a recent filing by Broadcom with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission indicates that the agreement involves approximately 3.5 gigawatts of compute capacity.

Most of this expanded infrastructure will be located in the United States and forms part of Anthropic’s broader $50 billion commitment to invest in domestic AI compute infrastructure, as outlined in the company’s announcement.

Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s chief financial officer, said the partnership reflects the company’s long-term strategy to scale its infrastructure to meet growing demand. He noted that the company is making its largest compute investment to date to support the rapid expansion of its customer base and to continue advancing its Claude AI models.

Demand for Anthropic’s AI offerings has increased sharply in recent months, driven largely by enterprise adoption. This growth has continued despite the U.S. Department of Defence identifying the company as a potential supply-chain risk.

Anthropic has also recently secured a $30 billion Series G funding round, bringing its valuation to approximately $380 billion. Alongside this, the company reported that its annualised revenue run rate has reached $30 billion, a significant increase from the $9 billion it recorded at the end of 2025.

The company further noted that it now has more than 1,000 enterprise customers, each spending over $1 million annually, highlighting the scale of business adoption of its AI solutions.
