Beehiiv has unveiled a series of new features designed to transform its newsletter service into a broader creator platform, introducing an in-app community feature alongside an AI-powered assistant called Copilot. The latest additions are intended to help creators build stronger relationships with subscribers, improve audience growth and unlock new revenue opportunities without relying on third-party services.

The new Community feature allows newsletter publishers to create dedicated discussion spaces where subscribers can interact directly with one another. Rather than sending members to external platforms such as Discord, Slack or Facebook Groups, Beehiiv now lets creators host conversations within its own ecosystem. Publishers can organise multiple chatrooms, moderate discussions and create paid membership tiers that provide exclusive access to premium communities.

Beehiiv CEO Tyler Denk said communities give audiences a place to engage around shared interests, whether those involve sports, politics, travel or other topics. By keeping these conversations inside Beehiiv, the company hopes creators can strengthen audience loyalty while managing both content and community from a single platform.

The company is also introducing AI Copilot, a new assistant that understands a creator’s newsletters, subscribers, audience behaviour and performance metrics. Copilot can analyse newsletter and podcast performance, recommend ways to grow readership, draft outreach campaigns and identify new monetisation opportunities. Beehiiv says the goal is to reduce administrative work so creators can focus more on producing content and engaging with their audiences.

Alongside the AI assistant, Beehiiv is expanding its monetisation tools with programmatic advertising. Publishers can automatically fill their newsletter advertising inventory with campaigns selected based on audience, content relevance, and expected performance, thereby maximising revenue. The company said publishers on its advertising network already earn more than $1 million every month. These new capabilities complement existing features, including metered paywalls, paid trials and a sponsorship marketplace. Beehiiv’s AI strategy extends beyond Copilot. Earlier this year, the company introduced a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows users to connect their Beehiiv accounts with AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude to ask questions and generate insights. It is also investing in Answer Engine Optimisation (AEO), helping newsletters become more visible in responses generated by AI search assistants.

In addition to the new AI and community tools, Beehiiv has launched a redesigned editor that displays editing and preview modes side by side, making it easier for creators to see exactly how their newsletters will appear before publication.

The latest releases continue Beehiiv’s rapid expansion beyond traditional email publishing. In recent months, the platform has added support for podcasts, webinars and customisable paywalls, with the company reporting that around half of its podcast users migrated their shows from competing platforms. Beehiiv says it plans to spend the coming months helping creators understand how to use its expanding suite of AI, community and monetisation tools as competition from platforms such as Substack and Riverside continues to grow.
