Claude AI experiences widespread outage across Anthropic services
Claude AI from Anthropic experienced a widespread outage, disrupting chatbot access and AI services for users as engineers worked to restore platform stability.
Anthropic suffered widespread service disruptions on Monday morning, with thousands of users reporting difficulties accessing Claude-related services.
The outage appears to affect both Claude.ai and Claude Code, though the company said the Claude API is continuing to function as expected. Most users encountered an error while trying to log in, as shown in the screenshot below.
“The issues we are seeing are related to Claude.ai and with the login/logout paths,” the company’s status page states. Anthropic has not yet explained what triggered the outage, but said it has identified the issue and is rolling out a fix.
The disruption follows a surge in new users to Claude, which appears to have benefited from the attention surrounding the company’s tense negotiations with the Pentagon. Over the weekend, the chatbot app climbed to the top of the App Store rankings, overtaking rival ChatGPT after spending a long period outside the top 20.
Last week, U.S. President Donald Trump instructed federal agencies to stop using Anthropic products following a dispute over safeguards that would prevent the Department of Defence from using its AI models for mass domestic surveillance or fully autonomous weapons. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said he would designate the company as a supply-chain threat, though Anthropic has not yet received any formal notice.
