Spotify is expanding its podcast partner program to 35 additional countries, allowing more creators to earn revenue from advertising and Premium subscribers. The expansion is the company’s largest geographic rollout of the program so far.

New markets include Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Poland, Chile, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas. Eligible creators can earn from both audio and video podcasts, while continuing to distribute shows on other platforms and keep separate sponsorship revenue.

Spotify grows podcast monetisation

Spotify said video podcast consumption has increased 140% since the feature launched in 2022, while total monthly payouts to shows have grown by one-third since January.

The company also changed its video podcast monetisation requirements earlier this year. Creators can now apply with at least three episodes, 2,000 consumption hours, and 1,000 engaged audience members in the previous 30 days.

Spotify said the updated criteria have helped participating shows increase consumption by an average of 45%, as the platform continues expanding opportunities for podcast creators.
