Kim Kardashian says ChatGPT is her ‘frenemy’
Celebrities — they’re just like us? In a new Vanity Fair interview, Kim Kardashian admitted that her ongoing “friendship” with ChatGPT has become a little… toxic.
The reality star, entrepreneur, and aspiring lawyer revealed that she frequently turns to OpenAI’s chatbot for help while studying law — only to discover that it often gives her completely wrong answers.
“I use [ChatGPT] for legal advice, so when I am needing to know the answer to a question, I will take a picture and snap it and put it in there,” Kardashian said. “They’re always wrong. It has made me fail tests… And then I’ll get mad and yell at it, like, ‘You made me fail!’”
When Legal Studies Meet AI Hallucinations
Unfortunately for Kardashian, ChatGPT isn’t the most reliable study buddy. The chatbot is known to “hallucinate,” or generate fake but confident-sounding answers instead of admitting uncertainty.
Since ChatGPT predicts likely responses based on massive data sets — not verified facts — its output can sound persuasive but be entirely incorrect.
The issue has tripped up even real lawyers: several attorneys have faced disciplinary action for submitting legal briefs written by ChatGPT that cited nonexistent cases.
Kardashian Tries to “Appeal” to ChatGPT’s Feelings
Kardashian went on to describe her habit of talking back to ChatGPT, trying to coax a more empathetic response — which, as any AI researcher could tell you, is an impossible task.
“I will talk to it and say, ‘Hey, you’re going to make me fail — how does that make you feel? You need to really know these answers,’” she said.
“And then it’ll say back to me, ‘This is just teaching you to trust your own instincts.’”
That’s right — ChatGPT, ever the digital therapist, apparently tells Kim Kardashian to trust her gut.
Of course, ChatGPT doesn’t actually have emotions — but Kardashian confessed she still reacts to it as if it does.
“I screenshot all the time and send it to my group chat, like, ‘Can you believe this b— is talking to me like this?’” she joked.
AI, Celebrity, and a Little Human Chaos
While Kardashian’s comments are undeniably entertaining, they highlight a growing reality: AI tools like ChatGPT are becoming mainstream study companions, even for those tackling complex subjects like law.
But her experience also underscores a warning — that AI can’t replace human judgment, especially in fields where accuracy is everything.
For now, it seems Kim’s legal career will need a little less ChatGPT… and a lot more human instinct.
