Televisions remain a significant focus of the annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and this year, LG is highlighting its display manufacturing expertise with the return of its ultra-thin Wallpaper OLED television.

The South Korean electronics company initially introduced the Wallpaper OLED line in 2017 and is now reviving it with a new model, the OLED evo W6. The television measures just 9 millimetres thick, reinforcing LG’s push toward wall-mounted displays that blend into home interiors.

LG says the OLED evo W6 can connect wirelessly to its Zero Connect Box, allowing users to stream lossless 4K video and audio without physical cables running to the screen. According to the company, the Zero Connect Box must be placed within 10 meters of the television for the wireless connection to work effectively.

The company claims the new model delivers improvements in brightness, colour accuracy, and black levels compared with the previous Wallpaper OLED generation. LG also said the display has been certified “reflection-free” by the independent product testing organisation Intertek.

In terms of performance, the OLED evo W6 supports a maximum refresh rate of 165Hz and includes compatibility with AMD FreeSync Premium, making it suitable for high-frame-rate gaming and other fast-motion content.

LG did not disclose pricing details for the new Wallpaper OLED TV. However, the company confirmed that the OLED evo W6 will be offered in 77-inch and 83-inch screen sizes.
