Meta is testing a new artificial intelligence-powered storytelling application called StoryKit, a mobile app that enables parents to generate personalised children’s stories with the help of AI. The app creates custom storybooks by combining user-selected characters, settings, life lessons and background music, allowing families to produce unique bedtime stories without writing the narrative themselves.

The application was first spotted in Apple’s App Store by 9to5Mac and is currently being piloted in a limited number of countries. Meta confirmed the test and said StoryKit is intended to help parents create imaginative storybooks while incorporating AI safety filters. The company also noted that the app does not include social networking features and is available only to users aged 18 and older.

Meta StoryKit creates personalised AI storybooks.

Story creation begins by selecting a character for the story. According to the App Store description, users can even photograph a favourite toy or a person to transform them into a story character. Parents are then asked to describe the setting or world where the story takes place before selecting a lesson they want the narrative to communicate.

The app is designed to weave themes such as kindness, courage and empathy into each story while tailoring the adventure to the chosen characters and environment. StoryKit then generates a complete children’s story accompanied by music, producing a personalised digital storybook through AI.

Meta says the platform is intended to encourage creative storytelling while simplifying the process for parents who want customised bedtime stories. The company has not announced when the app might become available in additional markets or whether it will receive a broader public release.

StoryKit expands Meta’s AI-powered creative tools.

The pilot represents another example of Meta integrating generative AI into consumer products. Over the past year, the company has continued adding AI-powered capabilities across its platforms, with StoryKit focusing specifically on family-oriented content creation rather than social media interactions.

UnlikeMeta’ss existing social applications, StoryKit operates as a standalone creative tool. The company said the application includes AI safety measures and intentionally excludes social features, positioning it as a dedicated storytelling experience instead of another communication platform.

Early pilot will help shape future development.

Because StoryKit remains in a pilot phase, Meta is using the limited rollout to evaluate how parents interact with the application and its AI-generated stories. Feedback from early users could influence future updates as the company continues refining the product.

The emergence of AI-powered storytelling tools also reflects a broader trend among technology companies exploring ways to use generative AI for personalised content creation. StoryKit focuses on giving families the ability to quickly generate original stories with customised characters, settings and educational themes through an automated creative workflow.
