Porsche to introduce an all-electric Cayenne Coupe to its lineup

Porsche is preparing to introduce an all-electric version of its Cayenne coupe, with sales expected to begin in late summer. The move highlights the automaker’s continued confidence in demand for electric vehicles.

The Cayenne Coupe Electric — despite carrying the coupe name — features a four-door design rather than the traditional two-door layout. It will arrive alongside multiple electric variants within the Cayenne range later this year, including the Cayenne Electric, Cayenne S Electric, and Cayenne Turbo Electric, reinforcing Porsche’s well-known approach of offering numerous model variations.

The coupe version could emerge as one of the brand’s strongest performers. When Porsche launched a coupe-style variant of the gasoline-powered Cayenne in 2019, it quickly gained traction, capturing 20% of total Cayenne sales within just a year. Five years on, that figure has grown to around 40%, with some markets seeing the coupe account for as much as 90% of sales, according to the company. These figures suggest that the all-electric coupe could find similar success, even at a premium price point.

The Cayenne Coupe Electric will not replace the existing gasoline or hybrid models, unlike the Porsche Macan, which is transitioning to a fully electric offering after this year. Instead, Porsche plans to sell the electric coupe alongside other powertrain options well into the next decade, beyond 2030. This approach could provide valuable insights into consumer preferences across different versions of the Cayenne coupe, including whether the electric model ultimately becomes the most popular. Factors such as added front trunk space and fluctuating fuel prices may also influence buyer decisions.

Those questions will remain unanswered until the full lineup — Cayenne Electric, Cayenne S Electric, Cayenne Turbo Electric, and Cayenne Coupe Electric — becomes available globally later this year, roughly nine months after the EV version was first revealed.

When it arrives on the market, the Cayenne Coupe Electric will be offered in three trims: a base model, an S Coupe, and a Turbo Coupe. Porsche’s extensive variant strategy is also evident in its flagship Porsche Taycan lineup, which includes numerous configurations.

Pricing for the Cayenne Coupe Electric begins at $113,800, excluding a $2,350 delivery charge. The Cayenne S Coupe Electric starts at $131,200, while the Cayenne Turbo Coupe Electric reaches $168,000. Buyers can further increase the cost with optional upgrades such as a lightweight sport package, which includes a carbon-fibre roof, performance-oriented tyres, and motorsport-inspired interior elements.

In return, drivers can expect strong performance in a crossover with a sloping roofline reminiscent of the iconic Porsche 911. All variants come equipped with an 800-volt powertrain, air suspension, and a redesigned roof structure that incorporates a new windshield and an adaptive rear spoiler. The model also includes the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port — popularised by Tesla — along with an additional AC charging port.

Performance specifications vary depending on the chosen model. The base version produces up to 435 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque, delivering a top speed of 143 mph and accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

For those seeking greater performance, higher trims significantly increase these figures. The top-tier turbo variant produces up to 1,139 horsepower and 1,106 pound-feet of torque, placing it in the same performance category as vehicles such as the Tesla Model S Plaid, Lucid Air Sapphire, and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. This version reaches a top speed of 162 mph and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds.

Porsche has not yet released official EPA range estimates for the Cayenne Coupe Electric models. However, early real-world testing suggests a range similar to other Cayenne EV variants, at around 360 miles per charge. That figure may decrease by roughly 10% for models equipped with larger wheels, as increased rolling resistance can demand more energy from the battery.
