Prezent Raises $30 Million to Acquire AI Services Firms — Starting with Founder’s Other Company

Prezent, a startup offering an AI-powered presentation builder to enterprises, has secured $30 million in funding, led by Multiplier Capital, Greycroft, and Nomura Strategic Ventures, with participation from existing investors such as Emergent Ventures, WestWave Capital, and Alumni Ventures. This brings the Los Altos, California-based company’s total funding to over $74 million and values it at $400 million.

The newly raised capital will primarily be used for acquisitions, and Prezent has already made its first move — acquiring Prezentium, a services-led presentation company specialising in the life sciences vertical. Notably, Rajat Mishra, founder of Prezent, was also a co-founder of Prezentium and has been serving as its non-operating president since the launch of Prezent. Mishra explained that Prezent and Prezentium already have a working relationship, with Prezentium acting as a go-to-market partner. The acquisition consolidates Mishra’s ventures under one roof, allowing Prezent to leverage Prezentium’s client base to offer its AI presentation tools to a broader audience.

While many companies, such as Presentations.ai, Lica, Gamma, and Chronicle, are developing AI-driven presentation-building tools (all backed by Accel), Prezent is focused on an enterprise strategy, specifically targeting larger corporations. Although it previously expressed intentions to expand into sectors such as finance and manufacturing, Prezent is currently prioritising the life sciences and tech industries. Mishra explained, “There are plenty of tools out there that make presentations look pretty, but we want to provide the best tools for business communications. Presentation is one of the last frontiers in business that hasn’t been automated yet.”

Mishra, a former McKinsey executive, noted that Prezent is taking a specialised approach to AI model training across industries. To further assist clients in adopting AI-powered presentation tools, Prezent places a presentation engineer within the company, ensuring smoother integration of the technology and faster product adoption.

“The reality of AI in the enterprise is that while AI can do a lot, it can’t teach people how to use it. That’s why we want to place presentation engineers in companies to help our customers get up to speed faster,” Mishra said.

The trend of AI startups acquiring services companies to customise solutions for enterprise clients is becoming more common. For instance, D-ID, a digital avatar startup, acquired Simpleshow, and Lawhive, a Google-backed legal tech startup, acquired a UK-based law firm. These acquisitions allow AI startups to blend their technological capabilities with domain expertise and client service.

In the future, Prezent aims to build more partnerships and pursue acquisitions in fields such as executive communication coaching, medical writing, and communications consulting. According to Mark Terbeek, partner at Greycroft, which has invested in multiple rounds of Prezent, the firm is particularly interested in areas where businesses have traditionally relied on costly agencies to meet their needs, and now AI tools are stepping in to provide the same services at scale.

“Rajat and Prezent have concentrated hard on solving the specific communication needs of businesses,” Terbeek said. “Plus, we’ve seen how quickly software evolves to adjust to workflows and help save time for end-users.”

Moving forward, Prezent plans to enhance personalisation in its product, enabling the AI to learn individual styles within organisations. Additionally, the company intends to add multimodality capabilities to its presentations, allowing users to input text, voice, or video to create decks. Like Synthesia and D-ID, Prezent also plans to integrate digital avatars into its presentations.
