Spotify launches new Audiobook Charts to highlight trending titles
Spotify introduces Audiobook Charts to showcase the most popular audiobook titles on its platform, helping listeners discover trending stories and top-performing releases.
Spotify is rolling out Audiobook Charts for users in the U.S. and the U.K., the company announced on Friday. Modelled on Spotify’s existing Music and Podcast Charts, the new Audiobook Charts will refresh weekly and showcase the most popular audiobooks overall, as well as top titles across genres. Spotify says the rankings are determined by listening behaviour and engagement on the platform.
The charts will be available to both free and paid users inside the audiobooks hub. To find them, users can tap the search button in the app, nd select the “Audiobooks” tile to enter the hub, then scroll down to the “Dive deeper” section, where the charts are located.
The launch is Spotify’s latest push into audiobooks, building on its official entry into the format in 2022.
Since then, Spotify has continued adding audiobook-focused tools and features, including the recently introduced “Page Match” option, which allows listeners to scan a page from a physical book and instantly jump to the corresponding point in the audiobook, and “Audiobook Recaps,” short audio summaries designed to catch users up on what they’ve already covered.
Spotify said the Audiobook Charts are designed to help both listeners and creators, giving readers a reliable way to discover what’s popular while offering authors and publishers additional pathways to reach broader audiences.
“As we’ve proven with Music and Podcasts Charts, when content is easier to access, discover, and enjoy, the demand grows,” Duncan Bruce, Spotify’s director of Audiobook Partnerships and Licensing, said in the company’s blog post. “We are delighted to bring that to audiobooks now, to help provide even more ways for users, publishers, and authors to discover what’s trending on Spotify, and make books more connected with culture in real time.”
Spotify has also been expanding beyond audio, recently launching physical book sales. Earlier this month, the company said users in the U.S. and the U.K. will soon be able to buy physical books directly in the app through a partnership with Bookshop.org.
