Trump demands Microsoft fire global affairs head Lisa Monaco

President Donald Trump declared on Friday that Microsoft should dismiss Lisa Monaco, the company’s president of global affairs.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump cited Monaco’s previous positions as “a senior National Security aide under Barack Hussein Obama, and a Lawfare and Weaponization obsessed Deputy Attorney General under Crooked Joe Biden and Lisa’s Puppet ‘Boss’ Attorney General Merrick Garland.” He argued that Monaco’s current role gives her access to “Highly Sensitive Information,” which he called “unacceptable.”

“It is my opinion that Microsoft should immediately terminate the employment of Lisa Monaco,” Trump wrote.

Monaco has held senior roles under both Barack Obama and Joe Biden, including serving as Deputy Attorney General during the Biden administration. Earlier this year, Trump revoked her security clearance through an executive order that also stripped clearances from Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton, and members of the Biden family.

Microsoft declined to comment on Trump’s statement. Monaco, who joined the company in May, oversees Microsoft’s cybersecurity policy and its engagement with global governments.

Far-right activist and Trump ally Laura Loomer has repeatedly criticised Monaco’s hiring on X (formerly Twitter). Loomer has also attacked Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, pointing to his Indian background and accusing him of “disgraceful scammer behavior.” On Friday, Loomer amplified Trump’s remarks, calling on the president to “cancel all of Microsoft’s government contracts.”

This isn’t the first time Trump has singled out a tech executive since returning to office. He previously demanded that Intel President Lisa Su, not Lip-Bu Tan, resign over alleged conflicts of interest. Later, after Intel granted the government a 10% stake in exchange for previously committed Biden-era funding, Trump described Tan as a “Highly Respected Chief Executive Officer.”
