Uber Eats will use Starship sidewalk robots to deliver food in the UK

Uber Eats is partnering with sidewalk delivery robot company Starship Technologies to roll out robotic food deliveries in the U.K. starting later this year.

The companies will begin offering the service in the Leeds and Sheffield areas “from select merchants” in December, with plans to expand from there. Uber says the collaboration will move into “additional European markets in 2026” and into the U.S. in 2027.

This partnership is the latest in Uber’s growing list of collaborations with autonomous vehicle companies across various categories. Starship, however, is not the first sidewalk robot provider to work with Uber Eats. The food delivery platform has been using Serve Robotics’ sidewalk robots in the U.S. for several years, and it began using Avride’s robots earlier this year.

Starship says it has nearly 3,000 six-wheeled delivery robots operating globally across more than 270 locations. The company notes that its robots typically complete deliveries in under 30 minutes and travel up to 2 miles.
