YouTube announces ‘voluntary exit program’ for US staff
YouTube launches a voluntary exit program for U.S. employees as CEO Neal Mohan reorganises product teams and Alphabet reports $10.26 billion in ad revenue.
YouTube has launched a “voluntary exit program” offering severance packages to U.S.-based employees, the company confirmed to TechCrunch on Wednesday. Multiple sources first reported the news.
CEO Neal Mohan informed staff of the move in an internal memo on Wednesday, which also detailed a significant reorganisation of YouTube’s product teams.
Under the new structure, YouTube’s product division will now operate under three separate organisations, all of which report directly to Mohan.
-
The Subscription Products team will oversee YouTube’s subscription offerings, including YouTube Music, Premium, and OTT services.
-
The Viewer Products team will focus on improving the user experience across YouTube’s main app, YouTube Kids, Learning, and Trust & Safety.
-
The Creator & Community Products team will concentrate on supporting creators and strengthening community engagement on the platform.
According to YouTube, no roles are being eliminated as part of the reorganisation.
The announcement follows Alphabet’s third-quarter earnings report, which revealed that YouTube’s advertising revenue reached $10.26 billion, representing a 15% year-over-year increase.
