Bending Spoons has agreed to acquire workplace software company Airtable for $1.28 billion in cash, marking the Italian technology firm’s first acquisition since its public market debut last month.

Founded in 2013, Airtable has raised more than $1.4 billion from investors over multiple funding rounds. The company reached a valuation of more than $11 billion during the technology investment boom in 2021. However, its shares were reported to be trading at an implied valuation of about $4 billion on secondary markets earlier this year.

Bending Spoons said Airtable’s current net cash and cash-equivalent holdings bring the company’s effective valuation in the transaction to approximately $2.25 billion.

In a statement announcing the acquisition, Bending Spoons founder Luca Ferrari described Airtable as a pioneering company that has changed how organisations manage data and business workflows. He said Airtable’s annual recurring revenue grew more than 20% year over year to approximately $480 million as of June 2026 and that the acquisition would help accelerate future innovation.

Airtable expands its AI offerings.

Earlier this year, Airtable introduced Superagent, a new product line designed to help organisations deploy teams of AI agents through an orchestration platform. At the product launch in January, Chief Executive Officer Howie Liu said Airtable serves more than 500,000 organisations worldwide, including 80% of Fortune 100 companies.

The acquisition continues Bending Spoons’ strategy of purchasing established software businesses and integrating them into its growing portfolio. The company has built a reputation for acquiring technology firms at valuations below their previous private-market peaks while streamlining operations and focusing on long-term profitability.

Growing software portfolio

Since expanding through acquisitions, Bending Spoons has added several well-known technology brands to its portfolio, including Evernote, WeTransfer, Eventbrite and Vimeo. The Airtable transaction further strengthens its presence in enterprise software and AI-powered productivity tools.

The deal comes only weeks after Bending Spoons completed its public listing at an $18 billion valuation, making Airtable the company’s first acquisition as a publicly traded business.
