African payments infrastructure company Flutterwave announced on Tuesday that it has completed a new Series E funding round, raising its valuation to $3.2 billion. The investment round includes participation from blockchain payments company Ripple, marking a strategic partnership between the two firms.

Although Flutterwave did not disclose the total amount raised in the latest financing, the company said it has now secured more than $500 million in funding since its launch.

Ripple’s investment forms part of a broader strategy to help both companies strengthen financial services across Africa. Cross-border payments remain one of the continent’s biggest financial challenges due to fragmented banking systems, strict foreign exchange regulations, currency volatility, and the continued routing of many international transactions through financial centres such as London, often resulting in higher costs and longer settlement times.

Flutterwave has been working to simplify those complexities by expanding its payments infrastructure and API capabilities, allowing businesses to operate more seamlessly across multiple African markets. Earlier this year, the fintech acquired African banking startup Mono to strengthen its API technology. In October 2025, Flutterwave also partnered with Polygon Labs to introduce stablecoin-based payment solutions designed to offer businesses a faster, lower-cost, and more reliable alternative to traditional banking systems.

As part of the latest collaboration, Ripple will provide the infrastructure needed to expand Flutterwave’s digital asset offerings across the continent. The partnership also supports Ripple’s own ambitions to grow its presence in Africa, where Flutterwave already operates in 35 countries.
