Google Makes It Easier to Switch From iPhone to Android With Android 17

Google has introduced a new migration experience in Android 17 that makes it easier for users to switch from an iPhone to an Android device. Announced on Wednesday, the feature allows users to wirelessly transfer more types of personal data without downloading a separate migration app, simplifying the onboarding process.

In addition to photos, videos, contacts, messages and calendars, Android 17 now supports the transfer of Google Account information, saved passwords, Wi-Fi credentials and eSIM data. The expanded compatibility is designed to reduce the time and effort required to move between smartphone ecosystems.

Rolling Out to More Android Devices

Google said the upgraded migration experience has already started rolling out to select Pixel smartphones. It is also available on Samsung’s newly announced Galaxy Z Flip8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 devices.

The company plans to expand the feature to additional Android devices in the coming months, giving more users access to the simplified migration process. By making it easier to bring important data from an iPhone, Google aims to lower barriers for consumers considering a switch to Android.
