Google’s Cheaper AI Plus Plan Is Now Available in Over 40 Countries
Google has expanded its affordable AI Plus plan to 40+ countries, offering Gemini 2.5 Pro, creative AI tools, NotebookLM access, Gmail/Docs AI features, and 200GB cloud storage for around $5 per month.
Google has rolled out its new, lower-cost AI Plus plan to more than 40 countries, including Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Philippines, Senegal, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe.
The plan was first introduced in Indonesia earlier this month for Rp 75,000 ($4.50) per month. In most other regions, the monthly fee is approximately $5. However, Google has confirmed that in select countries, such as Nepal and Mexico, users will receive a 50% discount for the first six months.
Subscribers to the AI Plus tier gain access to Gemini 2.5 Pro, along with advanced creative tools such as Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast for generating images and videos. The package also includes enhanced features within NotebookLM, integration of AI across Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, as well as 200GB of cloud storage.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of OpenAI expanding its sub-$5 ChatGPT plan to Indonesia. Interestingly, India, where ChatGPT Go was first launched, is not included on Google’s rollout list.
Both Google and OpenAI already offer $ 20-per-month subscription options. However, these new budget-friendly tiers aim to capture a broader user base, especially in regions where a $20 subscription remains less affordable.
