Legal AI startup Harvey has raised another $550 million at a $15.5 billion valuation, continuing its rapid rise as investors increase bets on artificial intelligence for legal work.

The new financing was co-led by Diffusion and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Harvey said the round brings its total funding to more than $1.55 billion.

The latest valuation comes only months after Harvey raised $200 million at an $11 billion valuation in March. That round followed another financing in December that valued the company at $8 billion, meaning Harvey has nearly doubled its valuation in roughly nine months.

Harvey expands beyond proprietary AI models

The new funding arrives shortly after Harvey introduced its first internally developed model, Harvey Tenet. The company built Tenet from the open-weight Kimi K3 model and post-trained it using legal data, with support from inference provider Fireworks.

Harvey is also encouraging customers to adopt and post-train open-weight models for their own legal workflows. The approach could let law firms and legal teams use specialised AI without depending entirely on proprietary frontier models from companies such as OpenAI and Anthropic.

Harvey did not assign a traditional name such as Series F to the latest financing. PitchBook estimates the startup has completed at least eight priced funding rounds since 2023, including five since 2025, although some were considered extension rounds.

The latest capital gives Harvey additional resources as it expands both its legal AI products and its strategy around customised models for the legal industry.
