Global ride-hailing company inDrive, which is widely recognised for its bid-based pricing model, has acquired Pakistan-based quick-commerce startup Krave Mart as it deepens its presence in grocery delivery and commerce services across South Asia.

The all-stock transaction was agreed to last year and has now received approval from the Competition Commission of Pakistan, clearing the way for the two companies to move forward with the deal, according to two sources familiar with the matter. inDrive confirmed that the acquisition had taken place, though it declined to disclose the financial terms.

Krave Mart, founded in 2021, is a grocery delivery startup that operates in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. The company delivers groceries in roughly 30 minutes through a network of dark stores.

The acquisition forms part of inDrive’s wider effort to grow its grocery delivery operations as it expands beyond ride-hailing and into commerce-related services. The Mountain View, California-headquartered company first introduced grocery deliveries in Kazakhstan in September 2025. Then it brought the service to Pakistan in January this year through a partnership with Krave Mart, which had already received an investment from inDrive in December 2024.

That earlier investment was made through inDrive’s venture and mergers-and-acquisitions arm, which was launched in November 2023 with plans to invest up to $100 million over the next few years to support the company’s broader super-app strategy.

“We are pleased with the approval from the Competition Commission of Pakistan as we continue to work closely with Krave Mart to expand access to fast and reliable grocery delivery services across the country, most recently launching in Lahore under the inDrive.Groceries brand,” said Andries Smit, chief growth businesses officer at inDrive, in an emailed statement.

He added that both the Krave Mart and inDrive brands will continue operating in Karachi as the company broadens its grocery delivery offering.

Expanding grocery delivery in Pakistan may not be easy. The market is currently led by Foodpanda, which has operated in the country for more than a decade and is backed by the German delivery group Delivery Hero, according to an industry source. Quick-commerce generally demands considerable time and capital before it becomes meaningfully profitable, which can make it challenging for new players to scale, the source said.

According to Sensor Tower data, inDrive has been the world’s second-most-downloaded ride-hailing app since 2022. It ranks as the fourth-most-downloaded travel app globally, behind Google Maps, Uber, and Waze, with more than 400 million downloads. The company is also the most downloaded ride-hailing service in nine countries, including Peru, Panama, Egypt, Morocco, and Pakistan, according to Sensor Tower.

inDrive operates in more than 1,000 cities across 48 markets worldwide, giving it a broad platform as it continues to expand into new services such as grocery delivery.
