Notion Re-Enables Anthropic AI Models Following Temporary Service Outage
Notion has restored access to Anthropic’s Claude AI models after a brief service disruption caused elevated error rates. The issue was resolved within hours, allowing users to continue using Claude-powered features in Notion AI.
Notion has restored access to Anthropic’s AI models after a temporary service issue led the company to disable them over the weekend.
Early Sunday, Notion announced that Anthropic’s Opus 4.7 and 4.8 models were experiencing degraded performance, resulting in a higher-than-normal failure rate for users relying on those models through Notion AI.
In response, the company temporarily disabled access to all Anthropic-powered models within its productivity platform while the issue was being investigated and addressed.
Several hours later, Notion Head of Product Max Schoening clarified the situation, noting that the problem stemmed from a short-lived service disruption rather than any broader concerns about model quality. His comments came after the company’s announcement gained significant attention on social media, with many users speculating about the cause of the outage.
Schoening emphasised that temporary infrastructure issues can affect any technology platform, noting that similar incidents occasionally impact services across the industry, including developer platforms, cloud providers, and software applications.
Shortly afterwards, Notion confirmed that access to the Anthropic modes had been fully restored.
Anthropic also addressed the incident, stating that a brief infrastructure issue had caused elevated error rates across multiple Claude models for a limited period. The company said the problem has since been resolved and thanked users for their patience while services were restored.
The disruption appears to have been temporary, with both companies confirming normal operations have resumed.
