Rebel Audio launches an AI podcasting tool designed for new creators

There’s a familiar moment many people experience: sitting with a friend, having a lively conversation, sharing laughs, maybe even touching on something unexpectedly insightful — and then someone suggests, “We should start a podcast.”

In most cases, that idea disappears as quickly as it surfaced. Not necessarily because it lacks merit, but because the process of creating a podcast can be more complicated than expected. From setting up recording equipment and learning editing tools to managing distribution and promotion, the barriers to entry can feel higher than anticipated.

This is the problem Rebel Audio is aiming to solve.

Rebel Audio presents itself as an all-in-one podcasting platform built specifically for beginners and early-stage creators. Its core idea is to simplify the entire workflow by bringing everything into a single environment. Instead of relying on multiple tools, subscriptions, and platforms, users can handle every step — from creating and recording a show to editing, designing cover art, generating transcripts, clipping content for social media, and publishing — without leaving the platform.

The company launched a private beta earlier this month with a waitlist and has already raised $3.8 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round, indicating strong investor interest in reducing complexity within podcast production. A broader public launch is scheduled to begin on May 30.

The timing aligns with rapid growth in the podcasting industry. The market is projected to reach $114.5 billion by 2030, and according to Riverside, more than 584 million people listened to podcasts in 2025, with forecasts suggesting that number will increase to 619 million by 2026.

Several competitors already offer integrated podcasting solutions. Platforms like Spotify for Creators (formerly Spotify for Podcasters) offer features such as unlimited hosting, video podcast uploads, analytics, audience engagement tools, and monetisation options, including ads and subscriptions. Other notable players include Riverside, Adobe Audition, and Descript. However, Rebel Audio positions its offering as a more comprehensive “360-degree” creation suite.

Monetisation is a central element of the platform’s approach. Rather than treating revenue generation as a later-stage consideration, Rebel Audio incorporates it from the outset. Creators can access advertising opportunities, brand partnerships, dynamic ad insertion, and listener subscription models directly within the platform.

Artificial intelligence plays a significant role in shaping the user experience. The platform includes an AI assistant that can generate podcast names, descriptions, content ideas, and even cover artwork based on user prompts. It also offers AI-driven transcription, dubbing, and translation tools, along with voice cloning features for creating ad reads.

However, the heavy reliance on AI may also raise concerns. The use of AI-generated visuals and voice cloning continues to be debated within the creative industry, particularly around issues such as data sourcing, originality, and intellectual ownership. Some creators remain cautious about adopting tools that blur these boundaries. Additionally, streaming platforms like Spotify and Deezer have already faced challenges related to the rise of low-quality, mass-produced AI content, often described as “AI slop.”

Rebel Audio says it has implemented safeguards to address these concerns. Voice cloning is optional and requires users to confirm they have permission to use a specific voice. The platform also includes measures designed to prevent misuse, such as restrictions against deepfake content. Its AI-generated artwork tools are equipped with moderation systems intended to block inappropriate or non-compliant imagery, particularly content that could violate distribution platform guidelines.

The platform was developed in collaboration with AI consulting firm Lattice Partners.

The leadership team brings extensive experience from across the entertainment industry. Founder Jared Gutstadt previously launched the production company Audio Up in 2020. Rebel Audio plans to migrate Audio Up’s existing catalogue onto the platform, which includes shows featuring well-known personalities such as Machine Gun Kelly, Anthony Anderson, Dennis Quaid, Jason Alexander, and Luke Wilson.

The broader team includes professionals with backgrounds at companies such as MGM and DreamWorks, and television producer Mark Burnett — known for projects such as “Survivor,” “The Voice,” and “Shark Tank” — has joined as an advisor.

In terms of pricing, Rebel Audio offers tiered subscription plans. The entry-level plan, priced at $15 per month, includes AI-assisted production, hosting, and distribution across major platforms. The Plus plan, at $35 per month, adds features such as video hosting and voice cloning for advertisements. The top-tier Pro plan, priced at $70 per month, includes advanced capabilities like dynamic ad insertion, listener subscriptions, translation, and dubbing.
