On Thursday, Anthropic unveiled Claude Opus 4.8, the latest version of its most advanced publicly available AI model. The new release is available across supported platforms and retains the same pricing as the previous Opus version.

The launch comes just 41 days after Opus 4.7, marking a much faster update cycle than usual for Anthropic. The accelerated release follows growing competition from rivals, including OpenAI's Codex and Google's Gemini Flash, as well as mixed reactions from some users to Opus 4.7.

According to Anthropic, Opus 4.8 delivers top-tier benchmark performance while improving the model's handling of uncertain or incomplete information. Early testing found that the model is more likely to acknowledge uncertainty and less likely to make unsupported claims.

Anthropic highlighted feedback from Bridgewater Associates, which said one of the biggest improvements was the model's ability to proactively identify potential issues in both inputs and outputs during analysis—something other AI systems often miss.

Alongside the model, Anthropic introduced Dynamic Workflows in research preview. The feature is designed to help large AI models coordinate hundreds of parallel subagents to manage complex tasks more efficiently.

The company said Claude Code, combined with Opus 4.8, can now handle large-scale codebase migrations involving hundreds of thousands of lines of code, from planning through deployment, while relying on existing test suites for validation.

Anthropic also provided an update on its more advanced Mythos model, which remains in limited preview following cybersecurity concerns raised during earlier testing. The company said it is making rapid progress on additional safeguards and expects to bring Mythos-class models to customers in the coming weeks.

The release of Opus 4.8 reflects Anthropic's continued effort to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive AI market while expanding the capabilities of its flagship models and developer tools.
