Beehiiv launches new creator tools with webinars and flexible paywalls
Beehiiv introduces webinars and customizable paywalls, giving creators more ways to monetize content and grow their audience.
Beehiiv is increasingly signalling its intent to move beyond just a newsletter platform. The Los Angeles-based company announced a wide set of updates on Thursday that further expand its ambitions, introducing new features such as webinars, AI-driven podcast analytics, metered paywalls, and paid trial options.
Taken together, the rollout highlights Beehiiv’s broader goal of becoming an all-in-one platform for creators. The company aims to reduce reliance on multiple third-party tools by consolidating content creation, distribution, engagement, and monetisation into a single ecosystem. With this expansion, Beehiiv is positioning itself in direct competition with platforms across newsletters, webinars, and podcasting, including Patreon, Substack, Zoom, Kit, and Ghost.
The most notable addition is its entry into the webinar space. Creators can now host live events for up to 1,000 attendees directly inside Beehiiv. These sessions support video, screen sharing, and live chat functionality. Events can be monetised in multiple currencies or offered for free to grow audiences. The feature is designed for use cases such as educational sessions, product demonstrations, and community engagement.
On the monetisation side, the company is introducing more flexible paywall systems to improve subscriber conversion without immediately discouraging new readers. The new metered paywall feature allows creators to define how much content is freely accessible before prompting users to subscribe. This can range from a single article to as many as 10 posts before a paywall is triggered.
Creators also have control over reset timing for this meter, with options including daily, weekly, monthly, yearly, or no reset at all.
Another major addition is paid trials, a widely used subscription strategy. These allow creators to define trial pricing and duration, such as offering access for $1 for 30 days or $5 per month for a three-month introductory period.
Beehiiv is also expanding its focus on podcasts, an area it entered more deeply last month with the introduction of native podcast hosting. This enables creators to manage hosting, distribution, and monetisation within the platform. According to the company, adoption has been strong so far, with 50% of existing users migrating their podcasts and 25% launching new ones on the platform.
To support this growth, Beehiiv is rolling out AI-powered analytics tools for podcasts. These features allow creators to analyse data and ask natural-language questions about performance metrics, such as episode engagement or listener geography, without manually navigating dashboards. Users must opt in and can select which AI tools they integrate, including systems like Claude and ChatGPT.
The company also confirmed additional roadmap features, including podcast video support expected in the second quarter and advertising tools planned for later in the year.
Alongside product updates, Beehiiv highlighted its strong business performance. The company described the first quarter as its strongest to date, reporting 400 million unique readers, over 50,000 active users, and 10 billion emails sent. It also announced this month that it has surpassed $28 million in annual recurring revenue.
