Google Expands CC AI Agent to Help Families Manage Household Tasks

Google is expanding its CC AI agent to help families manage household schedules, organise shared tasks and coordinate daily activities. The updated service allows up to six family members to collaborate through a shared AI assistant connected to Google’s productivity tools.

The company announced the family-focused update on September 17, introducing features that can track school events, manage appointments, prepare shopping lists and assist with household paperwork. CC can also create a shared daily briefing to keep family members informed about upcoming activities and responsibilities.

CC now has its own Google account, allowing family members to share information with the assistant while maintaining individual permissions. Each person can choose which emails, calendar events and other details the agent can access.

Users can forward school announcements, sports schedules, birthday invitations and appointment confirmations directly to CC. They can also select trusted email senders, such as schools or activity organisers, whose messages will automatically be shared with the assistant.

Using that information, CC can add important dates to a shared Google Calendar, update task lists and prepare daily summaries. For example, an appointment confirmation or school closure notice can become a calendar entry accessible to participating family members.

The assistant can also fill out permission slips and registration PDFs, create school supply lists, plan weekly meals and calculate travel times between activities. It can request missing information, prepare shared Google Docs or Sheets and use its group memory to retain relevant household preferences.

Google CC Privacy Controls and Availability

Google says each household member controls what information they share with CC and can change those permissions at any time. The agent operates on an isolated cloud computer powered by Gemini and Google’s Antigravity technology.

The family-focused service builds on CC’s original productivity features, which connected Gmail, Google Calendar and Google Drive to provide personalised daily briefings. Google also introduced related functionality in the Gemini app through its Daily Brief feature in May.

The expanded service may also help households where several adults share responsibilities, including grandparents, caregivers, and adult children living with their parents. Multigenerational living arrangements can involve coordinating schedules and responsibilities among more than two adults.

However, the current experiment is restricted to users aged 18 and older in the United States who have personal Google accounts. Children and teenagers cannot directly participate, and school-issued Google accounts are not supported.

Existing CC users will receive email invitations to upgrade their accounts, while new users can join the Google CC waitlist to request access to the family-focused AI assistant.
