Anthropic Combines Claude Chat and Cowork Into One Interface

Anthropic is simplifying the Claude experience by combining Claude Chat and Cowork into a single interface, allowing users to access different AI workflows without switching between separate tabs.

The updated design brings together Chat, Cowork, and Artefacts, Claude’s interactive workspace feature, in one window. Claude Design, a tool introduced for website and prototype creation, can also be used throughout the platform.

One interface for different AI tasks

Anthropic said users previously found it hard to decide which Claude feature best suited different tasks. With the new interface, Claude automatically routes requests to the appropriate tools, reducing the need to select different modes manually.

The company is also adding dedicated features for creating documents and presentations. Users can ask Claude to create, edit, and present slides, then export presentations as PDF or PowerPoint files.

New document and collaboration features

Claude’s document tools allow users to create sections, ask questions, and add comments while working with the AI assistant. Generated documents and presentations can be shared through links and edited from mobile devices.

Users can also start tasks on desktop and monitor progress through the mobile app while Claude continues working.

The new features are rolling out first to Claude Pro and Max subscribers across web, desktop, and mobile. Anthropic plans to expand availability to free and team users later.

The update follows improvements to Claude’s memory system, which helps the assistant maintain user context across conversations.
