Google expands Gemini integration in Chrome across APAC regions
Google is rolling out Gemini AI features in Chrome across APAC countries, bringing built-in assistance, smarter browsing, and enhanced productivity tools.
Google announced on Monday that it is expanding its Gemini in Chrome feature to several new markets across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. The rollout includes countries such as Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. The company confirmed that the feature will be available on both desktop and iOS in all listed countries, except Japan, for iOS support.
The expansion is part of Google's ongoing effort to deepen AI integration inside its Chrome browser. Over the past year, the company has steadily embedded its Gemini AI system into Chrome through multiple interface upgrades, including floating windows and sidebar-based tools.
Earlier this year, Google introduced a sidebar assistant designed to help users interact with information across multiple open tabs. This assistant also leverages Gemini's "Personal Intelligence" capabilities, allowing users to connect services such as Gmail, Google Photos, Calendar, and Maps. Through these integrations, users can receive personalised answers, schedule meetings, check location details, and draft or send emails directly within the browser.
The sidebar experience also includes tools for web-based image transformation using "Nano Banana 2," enabling users to edit or modify images found online without leaving Chrome.
Gemini in Chrome was first made available to users in the United States in January. In March, the rollout later expanded to additional markets, including India, Canada, and New Zealand.
With the latest expansion, Google is bringing the feature to a broader global audience, although some advanced capabilities remain limited. The company's more agentic functionality—where the AI can actively control the browser to perform tasks on users' behalf—is still in testing. This feature is currently restricted to users on Google's paid AI Pro and AI Ultra plans and is only available in the United States.
The expansion highlights Google's continued push to integrate AI more deeply into its core products, positioning Chrome as a central hub for productivity, search, and personalised assistance powered by Gemini.
