Lucid adds Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support to the Gravity SUV
Lucid Motors rolls out Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration for Gravity SUV owners, expanding smartphone connectivity across its luxury electric vehicle lineup.
Lucid Motors said it will release a software update to North American owners of its Gravity SUV on Thursday that will activate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, according to an announcement made Wednesday morning. Owners in Europe and the Middle East are expected to receive the same update in late March.
The phone-mirroring features were already available on Lucid Motors’ sedan, the Lucid Air. However, the company has spent the first few months following the launch of the newer Gravity SUV working through a range of software problems. Those issues grew serious enough that Lucid Motors’ interim CEO issued an apology to owners. More recently, the company parted ways with several of its senior software leaders, and last month it also moved to cut 12% of its workforce.
The software update arrives on the same day Lucid Motors is scheduled to host an investor day in New York City, where the company is expected to discuss its forthcoming mid-size EV platform, its path to profitability, and the planned debut of its luxury robotaxi service in partnership with Uber and Nuro.
