Lucid Motors produced twice as many electric vehicles in 2025 as it did the previous year, signalling a recovery after early manufacturing challenges related to its new Gravity SUV.

The company announced Monday that it built 18,378 electric vehicles in 2025, with 8,412 units produced in the fourth quarter alone. That fourth-quarter output exceeded the total number of cars Lucid assembled at its Casa Grande, Arizona, plant during the entire first half of the year. Lucid also reported 15,841 vehicle deliveries—meaning vehicles sold to customers—representing a 55% increase compared with 2024.

The stronger end to the year positions Lucid for a pivotal period ahead, as the automaker prepares to begin production of the first model based on its new mid-sized EV platform. Lucid has said the initial vehicle built on that platform is expected to cost about $50,000, placing it in the same competitive segment as the Tesla Model Y and the upcoming Rivian R2 SUV.

Despite production gains, Lucid’s 2025 results remain well below the ambitious targets it outlined when it went public via a $4 billion reverse merger in 2021. At that time, the company projected 135,000 vehicle deliveries in 2025, including 86,000 Gravity SUVs, 42,000 Air sedans, and 7,000 vehicles from its mid-sized EV lineup.

Those projections quickly proved unrealistic as Lucid encountered production bottlenecks, supply-chain constraints, and softer-than-expected demand, all while navigating an auto industry heavily disrupted by the pandemic. The company faced particular difficulties in early 2025 during the ramp-up of Gravity SUV production.

Lucid has since acknowledged ongoing quality and software issues affecting the Gravity SUV. In December, interim CEO Marc Winterhoff sent an email to customers addressing the problems and expressing empathy for their experience.

“Lingering software problems have unfortunately affected our customers’ experience and satisfaction,” Winterhoff wrote. “I would like to assure you that we are laser focused on addressing these issues.”

While challenges remain, Lucid’s increased production and deliveries in the latter half of 2025 suggest the company has regained some operational momentum heading into a critical year for its future growth.
