Microsoft Fixes Age of Empires II Security Vulnerability With New Patch
Microsoft has released a security update for Age of Empires II, fixing a vulnerability that could affect gameplay and system security. Learn what the patch includes and why players should update.
OpenAI has officially stepped into the hardware space with the introduction of the Codex Micro, a $230 illuminated keyboard created to work alongside its AI coding assistant, Codex.
Developed in collaboration with speciality keyboard company Work Louder, the Codex Micro is designed to provide ChatGPT users with a dedicated way to manage AI coding agents—semi-autonomous assistants capable of writing and executing code with minimal human involvement.
The keyboard features illuminated “Agent Keys” that display the status of individual AI agents, programmable Command Keys for frequently used Codex functions, and a joystick that can trigger common workflows. It also includes a rotary dial that lets users adjust an agent’s reasoning level, thereby controlling how much computing power and processing time an AI agent dedicates to a particular task.
Rather than relying solely on the ChatGPT desktop or mobile interface, OpenAI says users can use the Codex Micro as a centralised control hub to manage agentic workflows. The device also integrates directly with the ChatGPT desktop application, where users can customise its controls and functionality.
OpenAI said the Codex Micro is being released as a limited-edition collaboration, suggesting that it is intended more as a showcase product than a mass-market hardware offering. The keyboard appears designed to signal the company’s entry into AI-focused hardware while offering enthusiasts a unique desktop accessory.
However, the company’s broader hardware ambitions extend beyond the new keyboard. Bloomberg reported Tuesday that OpenAI is also developing another hardware product intended as a long-term consumer device. According to the report, the unreleased product is expected to be a portable, screenless smart speaker integrated with ChatGPT and equipped with mechanical components that can move independently.
Exactly how those features—portable design, no display, and moving mechanical parts—will come together remains unclear, as OpenAI has not publicly disclosed further details. Bloomberg noted that the project is still under development and that its design and specifications could change before launch.
The upcoming device is also reportedly being developed with the involvement of former Apple engineers, adding another layer of attention given the ongoing legal dispute between the two companies.
Apple recently filed a lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging that the company and members of its leadership intentionally obtained confidential information and used it while developing its own hardware initiatives. OpenAI has rejected those allegations and maintains that it has done nothing improper.
