Netflix Rolls Out Redesigned Mobile App Across Asia, Expands Focus on Kids Gaming
Netflix is expanding its redesigned mobile app across Asia-Pacific markets while strengthening its kids gaming ecosystem through Netflix Playground and new interactive experiences for younger audiences.
Netflix is accelerating its efforts in mobile experiences and gaming, outlining several new initiatives during its recent APAC Product Innovation Showcase.
At the event, the streaming giant shared plans to bring its redesigned mobile experience to additional markets across the Asia-Pacific region while continuing to expand its gaming strategy through Netflix Playground, a dedicated hub built for children’s games.
The company is also widening the availability of its updated mobile app. After introducing the refreshed experience earlier this year in Australia, New Zealand, the Philippines, India, and Malaysia, Netflix said it plans to launch the redesign in South Korea and Japan in July, with more Asia-Pacific markets expected to follow.
One of the most notable features of the revamped app is Clips, Netflix’s response to the growing popularity of short-form video content. The vertical video feed allows users to discover quick snippets from Netflix’s catalogue, offering an easy way to watch content when they do not have time for a full movie or episode.
Netflix is now preparing to expand the feature further. The company announced plans to test themed Clip collections that would group short videos around specific genres, interests, and moods. These curated collections could include everything from popular reality TV moments to behind-the-scenes content and podcast highlights.
In addition to streaming, Netflix continues to increase its focus on gaming. The company revealed that it is expanding Netflix Playground, its gaming destination designed specifically for younger audiences. The latest update will centre on “KPop Demon Hunters,” the animated musical that has quickly emerged as one of Netflix’s most successful family titles.
The new experience will debut with six mini-games, allowing fans to engage directly with the film’s characters and storylines. The move comes as “KPop Demon Hunters” has generated more than 518 million views during its first six months, making it one of Netflix’s biggest animated hits. Netflix appears eager to build on that popularity while encouraging families to spend more time within its ecosystem.
Netflix Playground was first introduced in April across markets including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, highlighting the company’s broader plans to expand the platform internationally.
