X Tightens Creator Rules to Curb Stolen Content and Engagement Bait
X has introduced tougher measures to detect stolen content, reduce engagement bait and ensure creator payouts go to original content owners.
X has introduced stricter measures to protect original creators by cracking down on stolen content and engagement bait within its creator revenue-sharing programme. The platform says its latest Grok AI model can detect duplicated content far more effectively, helping ensure that monetisation rewards go to the people who created the content.
According to X, the updated Grok model identifies copied posts at roughly three times the rate of its previous version. The system can also recognise attempts to disguise stolen content by adding watermarks, introductions or other edits. In such cases, the monetised impressions will be credited to the original uploader rather than the account that reposted the content. The detection system also covers copied viral text posts.
Nikita Bier said X identified around 1.5 million stolen posts during its latest review cycle, although he did not specify the time period. He added that more than $1 million in creator payouts will now be redirected to the original creators whose content had been copied.
The company is also strengthening enforcement against engagement bait and automated abuse. X says users who repeatedly encourage artificial engagement, such as promising to follow everyone who replies to a post, risk being removed from the creator programme. Accounts that violate the policy three or more times may also be referred to the platform’s policy team for suspension.
X has continued expanding its use of AI to improve platform moderation. In addition to detecting duplicate content, the company says it is identifying and suspending malicious bots more quickly as it works to improve the integrity of its creator ecosystem and reward original content over recycled posts.
