Apple Watch Siri Recap Can Summarise Conversations With Ambient Listening

Apple is bringing conversation summaries to the Apple Watch with Siri Recap, a new feature that uses ambient listening to create high-level notes from conversations.

Introduced Wednesday at Apple’s Surprise and Shine event, Siri Recap will be available on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. Apple Intelligence automatically generates a title, summary and key points from a conversation, which users can later review in the Siri app.

Apple said users can leave Siri Recap continuously enabled, configure it to operate on a schedule or turn the feature off entirely.

The company also announced several other audio-focused features for its latest watches. Shazam can identify songs directly from the device, while Sound Recognition can detect noises such as sirens, alarms, doorbells and a baby crying and alert the wearer.

Another feature, Live Rewind, allows users to recover a recap of the previous 15 seconds of conversation by double-pressing the Digital Crown. The feature is designed for moments when someone wants to revisit something they just heard without recording in advance.

Apple emphasised privacy protections around the new listening features. The company said it doesn’t store recordings and can’t access raw audio. Siri Recap also does not identify individual speakers.

 Apple says Live Rewind recaps are end-to-end encrypted. Even with those safeguards, Siri Recap’s ability to listen continuously and generate summaries could draw scrutiny when conversations contain private or sensitive information.

Siri Recap enters a category already served by dedicated meeting-notetaking services such as Granola and Circleback, both of which offer Apple Watch apps. Apple’s approach places similar functionality directly within its own smartwatch and Apple Intelligence ecosystem.
