Honor introduced its latest foldable phone, the Honor Magic V6, ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, featuring a large 6,600 mAh battery and a newly designed, durable hinge.

The Chinese brand has remained focused on showcasing how thin its foldable devices can be. This year's model measures 4 mm in thickness when unfolded and 8.75 mm when folded. That compares with last year's Magic V5, which measured 4.1 mm unfolded and 8.8 mm folded. The difference may be slight, but it is enough for Honor to continue making its case around ultra-thin design.

One standout feature of the device is its battery. The Honor Magic V6 features a 6,600 mAh battery, a notable increase from the previous model's 5,820 mAh unit. With Honor's SuperCharge technology, the foldable supports wired charging at up to 80 W and wireless charging at up to 66 W.

In addition, Honor also presented a new silicon-carbon battery technology with 32% silicon density, which the company said could push foldable smartphone batteries beyond the 7,000 mAh mark in the future.

The Magic V6 features a 7.95-inch main AMOLED display with a resolution of 2352 x 2172 pixels, and a 6.52-inch cover display with a resolution of 2420 x 1080 pixels. Both displays support LTPO 2.0, allowing refresh rates to shift dynamically between 1 Hz and 120 Hz depending on the task, which can help improve readability while also reducing power consumption.

Honor said it developed a new Super Steel Hinge with a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa, designed to improve long-term durability. The company also said it has reduced crease depth by 44%, giving the screen a smoother appearance. Honor added that the Magic V6 includes a new anti-reflective coating on the outer display, with a reflectivity rating of 1.5%.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and features 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. On the rear, the Magic V6 features a triple-camera setup comprising a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.6 aperture, a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/2.5 aperture, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. On the front, the device includes dual 20-megapixel cameras, each with an f/2.2 aperture.

Honor is also working to improve compatibility between the device and Apple products for file transfers and notification sharing. For example, the Honor Magic V6 can be configured to sync notifications with an iPhone in both directions. The device also includes settings that enable notifications to appear on an Apple Watch. In addition, the foldable can share files with Macs using a one-tap feature and can also function as an extended display.

Honor did not announce pricing for the Magic V6, but said the device will launch in selected international markets during the second half of the year.
