Fairphone is bringing its latest repairable smartphone directly to U.S. buyers for the first time, with the Fairphone 6+ launching at a starting price of $649.

The Dutch company previously reached U.S. customers through a partnership with French open-source operating system developer e/OS, which sold modified, “de-Googled” versions of earlier Fairphone devices. The Fairphone 6+ marks the company’s first direct U.S. launch without those modifications and will support T-Mobile and AT&T at launch.

Fairphone 6+ focuses on repairability.

The Fairphone6+’ss main distinction is its modular construction. It has 12 replaceable parts, including the battery, display, cameras and USB-C port, with components designed to be swapped using a single screwdriver.

Fairphone is offering a five-year warranty and software support through 2033. CEO Raymond van Eck said the device was designed from the beginning to be opened, repaired and kept in use for years.

The company also emphasises sustainability in manufacturing. Fairphone said it reduced the carbon footprint associated with producing each Fairphone 6+ to 30 kilograms of CO2 equivalent.

Midrange hardware with a 120Hz OLED display

The Fairphone 6+ runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor with 12GB of RAM. It includes a 4,415 mAh battery with 30W fast charging and a 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display with an adaptive refresh rate of up to 120Hz.

The rear camera system combines a 50-megapixel Sony main sensor with an f/1.88 aperture and a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. A 32-megapixel camera with an f/2.0 aperture handles selfies.

Fairphone is offering the phone in Forest Green, Horizon Black and Cobalt Blue. Optional accessories include a finger loop, lanyard and card holder that can be attached after removing the phone’s back cover.

With its U.S. launch, Fairphone is bringing its repair-focused approach directly to American consumers while retaining the replaceable components and extended support that distinguish the device from conventional midrange smartphones.
