KC Green, the creator of the widely recognised “This Is Fine” meme, says he has settled with AI startup Artisan after criticising the company for using imagery resembling his famous artwork in advertising campaigns.

The dispute began when Artisan featured a version of Green’s iconic dog character in ads promoting its AI sales assistant, Ava. In the bus and subway advertisements, the dog sat surrounded by flames, similar to the original comic, but the caption read, “My pipeline is on fire,” alongside the slogan “Hire Ava the AI BDR.”

Earlier this month, Green accused the company of misusing his work, saying on social media that his art had been “stolen as AI steals.” He also expressed frustration about having to deal with legal matters instead of focusing on his comics.

The Artisan said it had “a lot of respect” for Green and his work. Later, founder and CEO Jaspar Carmichael-Jack announced that both sides had reached an agreement.

Green confirmed that the dispute was resolved quickly. Under the settlement, Artisan agreed to move the advertisements featuring the character from New York and San Francisco, while Green removed his original social media post criticising the company.

The agreement brings the dispute to a close without further legal action.
