Midjourney Acquires Astrology App Co-Star to Expand Consumer AI

Midjourney, the artificial intelligence company best known for its AI-powered image and video generation tools, has acquired the social astrology app Co-Star. The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the transaction.

Co-Star has an estimated 4.3 million monthly active users and is widely used for generating astrological birth charts, sharing horoscope insights and comparing compatibility with friends. The platform combines artificial intelligence with human-written content to produce personalised horoscopes, relationship assessments and other astrology-based recommendations.

The acquisition signals that Midjourney is continuing to expand beyond the AI image generation tools that made it one of the most recognisable names in generative AI. While the company is closely associated with its Discord-based platform rather than a standalone mobile or desktop app, it has also explored projects in areas such as healthcare and wellness.

Adding Co-Star to its portfolio brings an established consumer application with millions of users and a team experienced in building large-scale social products.
