Polymarket expands partnerships with new Major League Baseball deal
Polymarket signs a new deal with Major League Baseball, continuing its partnership push as prediction markets gain traction in sports and digital engagement.
Prediction platform Polymarket continues to build momentum through a series of partnerships, with its latest agreement involving Major League Baseball (MLB).
On Thursday, MLB announced that Polymarket will become its official prediction market partner. This designation grants the platform exclusive access to official league data and allows it to incorporate MLB branding, including logos, into its offerings. In addition, Polymarket will benefit from increased visibility through brand exposure at games and across MLB’s digital platforms, according to the announcement.
Alongside this partnership, MLB has also entered into a memorandum of understanding with Michael Selig, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The agreement states that the regulatory agency that oversees prediction market platforms and the league will collaborate by sharing information related to baseball and prediction market activities.
In the past, MLB officials had raised concerns about the potential impact of prediction markets on the sport and its audience. In a letter sent to the CFTC last year, the league emphasised the importance of establishing an integrity framework to monitor and regulate the ways these platforms might influence the game. MLB has now positioned its partnership with Polymarket as a step toward ensuring that appropriate integrity measures are in place and upheld.
Polymarket’s recent growth follows a period when the platform faced restrictions in the United States. It had previously been barred from operating in the country, but that changed in September after the CFTC relaxed earlier regulatory barriers, allowing the company to re-enter the U.S. market. Since then, Polymarket has accelerated its expansion, forming data partnerships with major technology companies such as Google and Palantir, securing sports collaborations with organisations like Major League Soccer and Major League Hockey, and working with various media companies as it continues to broaden its presence.
