Visa has made an undisclosed investment in AI coding platform Replit as the two companies explore ways to bring payment capabilities directly into the development environment. The partnership could allow developers — and eventually AI agents built on Replit — to accept payments and manage transactions without leaving the platform.

The companies said more than 1,000 Visa employees already use Replit for prototyping and software development. As part of the collaboration, they are evaluating the integration of Visa Intelligent Commerce, the company’s AI-focused payment suite, and Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol, which helps AI agents securely verify their identity and transaction intent.

Although no products have been formally announced, the partnership reflects growing industry interest in agentic commerce, where AI agents can complete purchases and payments on behalf of users. Companies such as Google and Robinhood are also investing in similar AI-driven transaction capabilities.

“Over the last few months, our enterprise traction has been growing, and Visa coming on board underscores our mission of making coding available to anyone securely and robustly,” Replit founder and CEO Amjad Masad said.

Alongside the investment announcement, Replit launched a self-service enterprise offering that allows companies to sign contracts worth up to $200,000 without working through a sales team. The package includes enterprise features such as single sign-on (SSO), audit logs, advanced permissions, and compliance controls.

Masad said the new offering is designed to help organisations move from idea to production-ready software more quickly while maintaining security and governance standards.

Investor interest in AI coding platforms continues to grow rapidly. Replit reached a $3 billion valuation in September last year and later raised $400 million in a Series D funding round led by Georgian Partners, boosting its valuation to $9 billion within six months.

Speaking earlier this year, Masad highlighted the company’s strong customer retention, noting that many enterprises continue expanding their use of Replit after adopting the platform. According to him, some organisations that attempt to move applications off Replit often find that rebuilding them elsewhere adds complexity.

The partnership with Visa highlights how AI development platforms and digital payment infrastructure are converging as companies prepare for a future in which AI agents play a larger role in commerce and financial transactions.
