Amazon Raises Echo, Kindle and Fire TV Prices as Memory Costs Surge

Amazon has raised prices across several of its consumer hardware lines, with some increases of up to 60%, as higher memory and storage costs continue to pressure electronics manufacturers.

The changes affect Echo speakers, Kindle e-readers, Fire TV devices and eero networking products. Fortune first reported the broad price increases, and Amazon confirmed them.

Echo Dot price jumps 60%

One of the largest increases hit the entry-level Echo Dot, which rose from $49.99 to $79.99. The 16GB Kindle increased from $109.99 to $149.99, while the Kindle Paperwhite moved from $159.99 to $199.99.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Max climbed from $59.99 to $84.99, while eero 7 and eero Pro 7 systems also became more expensive. The Verge documented additional changes across Amazon’s hardware lineup. Ring products were not included in the increases reported by Fortune.

Historical pricing data from CamelCamelCamel also shows how sharply the Echo Dot’s current price differs from its previous pricing.

Amazon blames rising component costs.

Amazon said the consumer electronics industry is facing significant increases in the costs of memory and storage components and that it had absorbed those expenses for as long as possible before adjusting prices. The company said it still plans to offer periodic promotions across its product lineup.

The increases come as booming demand for memory used in AI infrastructure puts pressure on supplies available for consumer electronics. Other hardware manufacturers have also responded to higher component costs by raising prices or changing product configurations.
