Music has always been central to Grand Theft Auto’s identity, but Rockstar Games is taking a more deliberate approach with Grand Theft Auto VI. Instead of relying only on licensed songs heard through the game’s radio stations, Rockstar is preparing a standalone 34-track album of original music featuring artists including Travis Scott, Keith Richards, Yung Lean, Future, Metro Boomin, Morgan Wallen and Rauw Alejandro.

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album will launch on November 19, 2026, the same day as the game. Rockstar created the project in partnership with Atlantic Records, giving the music a release strategy closer to a major commercial album than a conventional collection of background tracks from a video game.

GTA 6: The Album Includes 34 Original Songs

Rockstar describes Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album as a collection of 34 original tracks created around the atmosphere of Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. The company has not yet revealed the full tracklist, but six songs have already been released across major streaming services.

The first group clearly indicates how broadly Rockstar is approaching the soundtrack. Yung Lean appears with Future and Metro Boomin on That’s It, while Travis Scott contributes RHYNO. CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso join PinkPantheress, Fred again.. and Etienne de Crécy for Sexy Magic.

The initial releases also move well beyond hip-hop and electronic music. Morgan Wallen contributes Last Thing You Need, Rauw Alejandro appears with Macacoa 2000, and Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards delivers Bright Lights, Big City.

That range suggests Rockstar is treating the album as an extension of the musical variety that has long defined Grand Theft Auto’s fictional radio landscape rather than building the project around one genre or demographic.

Rockstar Is Treating the Soundtrack Like a Major Album Release

The project’s scale goes beyond adding exclusive music to the game. Rockstar’s official album announcement confirms the soundtrack will be released in partnership with Atlantic Records and will be available through major music streaming services.

Physical editions are also planned. Limited-edition vinyl and CD versions are available for pre-order, giving the soundtrack a life outside the game itself. That makes the release notable even by Grand Theft Auto standards, where music has traditionally been one of the franchise’s most recognisable creative elements.

Commissioning dozens of original tracks also gives Rockstar more control over how the music reflects the fictional world it created. Rather than selecting only existing songs that happen to fit the setting, the company can work with artists on material designed specifically around the tone and culture of modern Vice City and Leonida.

Music Has Always Been Part of Grand Theft Auto’s World-Building

Grand Theft Auto has spent decades treating radio as more than background entertainment. Stations combine licensed songs, fictional advertising, DJs, commentary, and news to help establish each city’s culture.

Vice City in particular has a strong musical identity. Earlier versions drew heavily on the sounds and pop culture of the 1980s, while GTA VI returns to a modern version of the city and the surrounding state of Leonida.

Rockstar has also continued to expand the franchise’s musical side beyond individual games. Its Grand Theft Auto Radio playlists collect music from stations spanning multiple entries in the series, illustrating how closely individual songs have become associated with particular GTA locations and eras.

An original 34-track album gives Rockstar another way to build that relationship. Songs created specifically for the new game can become part of Leonida’s identity from the beginning rather than acquiring that association only after players have spent years hearing them in-game.

The First Six Tracks Cover a Wide Musical Range

The artists revealed so far make it difficult to categorise the album under a single musical style. Travis Scott, Future and Metro Boomin bring some of the biggest names in contemporary hip-hop, while Yung Lean adds a more alternative presence.

Rauw Alejandro brings Latin music to the opening selection, a natural fit for a fictional region inspired by Florida. Morgan Wallen adds country, while Keith Richards introduces a direct connection to classic rock.

The collaboration behind Sexy Magic broadens the mix further, bringing together Argentine duo CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso with PinkPantheress, Fred again.., and French electronic producer Etienne de Crécy.

Only six of the 34 songs have been made public, so the current lineup represents a relatively small portion of the complete project. Rockstar may still reveal major artists and genres before launch.

The Album Arrives Alongside GTA 6

The soundtrack is scheduled for November 19, matching the release date of Grand Theft Auto VI. Rockstar’s official GTA VI page confirms the game is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The story follows Jason and Lucia after what should have been a straightforward criminal job pulls them into a larger conspiracy across Leonida. Vice City remains the best-known location, but Rockstar has presented the state as a much broader environment encompassing different communities, landscapes and subcultures.

That larger setting helps explain why a musically diverse album makes sense. A soundtrack spanning hip-hop, electronic music, rock, country and Latin influences can reflect the different sides of Leonida rather than forcing the entire game into one musical identity.

Original Music Could Give GTA 6 a Different Soundtrack Identity

The announcement does not mean GTA VI will abandon the licensed radio music traditionally associated with the series. Rockstar has not yet fully detailed every radio station or song players will encounter while exploring Leonida.

Instead, the album adds another musical layer to the game. Original recordings can exist alongside licensed tracks, score work and the fictional radio programming that has historically helped make GTA cities feel alive.

It also lets Rockstar release music before players can access the game. The first six songs can already establish part of GTA VI’s tone months before launch, while the full album will arrive as players begin exploring Vice City for themselves.

A Bigger Role for Music in GTA VI

A 34-track original album featuring internationally recognised artists represents a substantial commitment, even for a franchise known for ambitious soundtracks. Rockstar is effectively treating music as a major part of the GTA VI launch rather than as supporting material revealed after the game is already available.

The first six tracks show the company isn’t trying to create a uniform soundtrack. The contrast between Travis Scott, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, Keith Richards and the artists behind Sexy Magic points toward the kind of deliberately mixed musical environment Grand Theft Auto has historically used to give its cities personality.

Much of the album remains unrevealed, and the complete relationship between these original songs and GTA VI’s in-game radio stations is still unclear. What is clear is that Rockstar wants Leonida’s music to stand on its own. When Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album arrives alongside the game on November 19, it will be one of the clearest examples yet of Rockstar treating a GTA soundtrack as a major release in its own right.
