GTA 6 Reveals Six Radio Stations, Celebrity DJs and In-Game Podcasts
Rockstar reveals six GTA 6 radio stations, celebrity DJs and on-demand podcasts, with music available while driving or exploring Leonida on foot ahead of launch.
Rockstar Games has revealed six radio stations for Grand Theft Auto VI, offering an early look at the music, celebrity hosts, and fictional broadcasts that will accompany players across Leonida. The lineup includes Latin music, country, African music, heavy metal, pop, and Southern hip-hop, with artists such as Bad Bunny, Burna Boy, Robyn, Lana Del Rey, and members of Slayer featured in the programming.
The October 8 announcement also confirms a major change to how players will experience music in GTA 6. Radio stations will no longer be limited to vehicles, and on-demand podcasts will add another form of entertainment players can access while exploring the open world.
Rockstar says Grand Theft Auto VI will feature the series’ largest and most varied in-game radio lineup. The company has published previews of the first six stations through its official music announcement, giving players a taste of the soundtrack ahead of the game’s November 19, 2026, release.
GTA 6 Introduces Six Radio Stations With Celebrity Hosts
The six announced stations reflect different parts of Leonida’s fictional entertainment culture, combining recognisable musical genres with presenters and personalities selected to give each broadcast its own identity.
Cocoteo FM focuses on contemporary Latin music, including reggaeton and other Caribbean-influenced styles. Its presenters are El Martillo and La Gata, and the station is associated with Bad Bunny and RaiNao. The selection suits Vice City’s Miami-inspired setting, where Latin American and Caribbean music has long influenced the surrounding culture.
Back Country Radio brings country music to GTA 6, hosted by MW and Delta Dawne. The station features artists including Morgan Wallen and Lana Del Rey, with Jeremy Dufrene also involved. Its programming contrasts with the metropolitan atmosphere of Vice City and fits the broader rural environments depicted throughout Leonida.
AfroBank FM focuses on African music, from older recordings to contemporary sounds. Its presenters, Burna and Palmsy, are associated with Burna Boy and electronic music producer Palms Trax. The station introduces another distinct musical identity to the game’s radio selection.
Chamber 106.6 targets heavy metal listeners, featuring DJ Kerry and DJ Tom, who are associated with Slayer members Kerry King and Tom Araya. Its presence continues the Grand Theft Auto tradition of giving rock and metal audiences dedicated stations rather than blending those genres into a general-purpose soundtrack.
Flash FM returns as a recognisable name for longtime Vice City fans. The station centres on pop music, featuring Swedish singer Robyn and model Alex Consani. Its inclusion connects the new game with the musical identity established by earlier Vice City titles while updating the selection for a contemporary setting.
Dirty South Classics rounds out the initial lineup with Southern hip-hop. Hosted by Trick Daddy and Trina, the station draws on the American South’s musical heritage, an appropriate choice for a game set in Rockstar’s fictional interpretation of Florida.
The six stations are only the first selection Rockstar has detailed. The company has indicated that GTA 6 will feature a broader range of radio programming so that the full station list may be considerably larger.
Players Can Listen to GTA 6 Radio While Walking Around Leonida
One of the biggest changes is the ability to keep listening to radio broadcasts after leaving a vehicle. Previous Grand Theft Auto games generally tied traditional radio playback to cars, motorcycles and other forms of transportation, making driving an important part of the series’ musical experience.
GTA 6 introduces headphones and earbuds connected to the character’s smartphone, allowing players to listen while walking around the game’s world. That means the soundtrack can accompany activities beyond driving, including exploration of Vice City and the surrounding regions of Leonida.
The feature makes practical sense for a contemporary open-world game. Music streaming and mobile listening are everyday parts of life, and Rockstar is bringing a similar experience into its fictional setting.
It could also change how players interact with the soundtrack. Instead of waiting until they enter a vehicle to hear a favourite station, players can maintain a more continuous listening experience as they move between locations and activities.
Rockstar has not yet detailed every aspect of the system, including whether headphones will affect environmental awareness, how music playback will behave during missions or whether players can select individual tracks outside the announced radio and podcast options.
GTA 6 Adds On-Demand Podcasts for the First Time
Beyond traditional radio broadcasts, Grand Theft Auto VI will introduce on-demand podcasts. Rockstar has confirmed the feature but has not yet revealed the full selection of shows, their presenters or how frequently new programs will become available.
Podcasts are a natural extension of the franchise’s fictional media environment. Grand Theft Auto has long used radio presenters, advertisements, and talk shows to satirise American politics, consumer culture, celebrity behaviour, and social trends.
Adding podcasts gives Rockstar another format for that kind of storytelling. Unlike conventional radio programming, which follows a broadcast-style presentation, on-demand episodes could let players access fictional conversations and commentary on their own schedule.
However, the announcement does not clarify whether podcasts will include branching narratives, respond to player decisions, or change as the story progresses. Those possibilities remain unconfirmed, and the feature should currently be understood as an additional listening option rather than a fully explained interactive system.
The inclusion of podcasts also reflects changes in the wider media landscape since Grand Theft Auto V launched in 2013. On-demand audio has become a mainstream entertainment format, making its appearance in Rockstar’s modern fictional world a logical development.
GTA 6 Music Includes Major Recording Artists
The radio announcement builds on Rockstar’s wider music plans for Grand Theft Auto VI. The company has also announced a 34-track official soundtrack album featuring original music from a range of contemporary artists.
Artists connected with that project include Travis Scott, Yung Lean, Future and PinkPantheress. The album is separate from the complete collection of licensed songs expected to appear across the game’s radio stations.
The involvement of well-known performers highlights how central music has become to the franchise’s identity. Grand Theft Auto soundtracks have historically introduced players to unfamiliar artists while reinforcing the atmosphere of fictional cities through carefully selected genres and musical eras.
Rockstar’s approach to GTA 6 seems to continue that tradition while expanding the role of recognisable musicians as station hosts and personalities. As Pitchfork reported, the newly revealed programming includes an unusually broad range of artists from different musical communities.
The range is especially relevant to Leonida’s setting. Modern Latin music, Southern hip-hop, country and African music each contribute a different cultural perspective, helping the fictional state feel less dependent on a single musical identity.
Why Radio Remains Important to Grand Theft Auto
Music has been a defining feature of Grand Theft Auto since the series began incorporating licensed soundtracks and fictional radio programming into its open-world environments. The mix of recognisable songs, invented advertisements, and satirical presenters has made driving around each game’s city an experience in itself.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City became particularly memorable for its 1980s soundtrack, while San Andreas used hip-hop, funk, country and rock to reinforce its interpretation of 1990s California. Grand Theft Auto V continued the approach with a broad selection of contemporary and older recordings spread across numerous stations.
The newly announced GTA 6 lineup suggests Rockstar is preserving that variety rather than concentrating exclusively on current chart hits. The game’s fictional broadcast environment will feature established artists, regional music, and specialised genres.
Adding portable listening and podcasts also changes audio’s role in the open world. Radio can become part of the broader exploration experience, while fictional podcast programming gives players chances to encounter the game’s humour and social commentary outside traditional driving sequences.
There is still a difference between announcing an extensive soundtrack and delivering memorable radio programming. The final experience will depend on song selection, presentation, pacing and how well the broadcasts fit the environment and the story.
When Will GTA 6 Launch?
Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has opened preorders and continues to reveal selected features ahead of the launch.
The game’s story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos through Leonida, including Vice City and surrounding communities. Its fictional, Florida-inspired setting provides the backdrop for the diverse musical genres featured in the new radio announcement.
Players can explore the game’s officially revealed characters, locations, and promotional material on the Grand Theft Auto VI website. Rockstar has not announced a native PC release date.
The latest reveal provides a clearer picture of how GTA 6 will use music to support its open world. With six stations already previewed, celebrity-led programming and podcasts available beyond vehicle interiors, Rockstar is expanding one of the series’ longest-running features without abandoning its familiar radio format.
The full soundtrack and podcast lineup remain unannounced, but the announcement signals that audio will play a broader role in how players experience Leonida. For a franchise in which radio stations have often become as memorable as individual missions, that is a meaningful addition ahead of launch.
