On Thursday, WordPress introduced a new Claude connector that enables site owners to share backend data with Claude, Anthropic's AI system. Userscano choose precisely which data they want to make available, and they can revoke access at any time.

Importantly, Claude is granted read-only access, meaning it cannot modify a user's content in the content management system. That said, WordPress previously indicated that it plans to eventually enable "write" permissions through its MCP integration, which could allow users to carry out editorial actions directly from a connected chatbot of their choice.

Once Claude is connected to a WordPress account, users can query the chatbot about any of the site data it has permission to view. This includes tasks such as summarising monthly website traffic, analysing low-engagement posts, and surfacing other performance insights based on available data.

WordPress has also provided a list of template prompts for the chatbot — things like "Show me pending comments on my blog," "Which of my sites gets the most traffic?" and "Show me which posts are generating the most discussion." Other functions include comment management ("Show me pending comments on my blog") and plug-in management ("What plug-ins are installed on my main site?").
