SpaceX has received a major boost ahead of its expected IPO next month after securing $6.45 billion in new contracts from the U.S. Space Force.

On Friday, the Space Force announced a $4.16 billion contract with SpaceX to build satellites that will support the missile and air defence system that President Donald Trump has dubbed the “Golden Dome.”

The award follows another Space Force contract granted earlier this week, worth $2.29 billion. Under that agreement, SpaceX will develop a communications network operating in low Earth orbit.

Combined, the two contracts are valued at approximately $6.45 billion and further strengthen SpaceX’s position as a key partner in U.S. space and defence programs.

The deals also underscore information revealed in SpaceX’s IPO filing released last week. According to the filing, government agencies accounted for roughly one-fifth of the company’s revenue in 2025, highlighting the importance of public-sector contracts to its business.

Musk reportedly contributed around $300 million to support Trump’s election campaign and has remained close to the president. However, SpaceX has also become the dominant force in the launch industry over the past decade, making it a natural choice for major government space projects.

Even so, the company noted in its IPO filing that government-related revenue remains subject to changing policies, regulations, priorities, mandates, and funding levels, all of which could affect future business opportunities.
