Zenzap, a startup developing an AI-powered workplace messaging platform, has disclosed $44 million in funding as it seeks to replace consumer chat apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram in business communications. The company targets organisations that need simple mobile messaging alongside administrative controls, task management, and AI automation.

Investors include Bessemer Venture Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners and The Garage, along with Wix President Nir Zohar and former EY executive Yoram Tietz. The funding will support Zenzap’s expansion as it develops additional workplace AI capabilities.

Founded in 2022 by Guy Weiss, Noam Neumann and Jonatan Bien, Zenzap focuses on businesses whose employees depend on mobile phones for daily coordination. Its target industries include hospitality, construction, healthcare, retail and food services.

Zenzap Combines Workplace Chat With AI Agents

Zenzap provides the familiar experience of consumer messaging apps while keeping workplace conversations separate from personal communications. Unlike services intended primarily for individual users, the platform offers organisational controls and tools to manage employees, schedules, and business information.

Its free tier includes direct messaging, group conversations, task management, calendar integration, scheduling and AI-powered search and voice features. Paid plans start at $51 per month for up to 20 users and add voice and video calls, intelligent task sorting, reusable task templates, and increased file storage.

Paid subscribers can also search conversations across their workspace and convert messages into actionable tasks. These capabilities are intended to reduce the need to switch between messaging, scheduling and productivity applications.

The platform offers AI agents that automate workplace processes, alongside AI-assisted transcription of voice notes and calls. Zenzap uses a separate credit-based pricing system for these automation and transcription features.

Targeting Businesses Beyond Traditional Office Teams

CEO Guy Weiss believes established workplace platforms such as Slack and Microsoft Teams do not fully address the needs of employees who primarily communicate through mobile devices. Zenzap is positioning itself as an alternative for businesses seeking easier adoption without relying on personal messaging accounts.

The company lists organisations such as FedEx, Dollar General, Taco Bell, Starbucks, Casey’s, and Regal among its customers. Weiss also said individual branches of restaurant chains such as IHOP and McDonald’s use the platform to coordinate shifts and manage supply-related communications.

Different industries can configure AI-supported workflows around their operational requirements. For example, restaurant employees may need shift coordination, while other businesses may use the platform to organise tasks, share information and manage daily operations.

Funding Supports Product Development and Hiring

Weiss previously founded e-commerce marketing company StuccoMedia in 2012, building it without outside funding before selling it to Market Group in 2015. After several years as an investor, he co-founded Zenzap with Neumann and Bien after discussions with Bessemer partner Adam Fisher.

Weiss initially financed Zenzap himself and worked from Bessemer’s offices. Fisher later encouraged him to pursue venture capital to support the company’s expansion.

Zenzap currently employs approximately 50 people across the United States, Tel Aviv and Europe. The startup plans to expand its product and research and development teams as it develops its AI capabilities.

Bessemer has also adopted Zenzap internally for communication and managing investment deals, according to Fisher. The company’s broader ambition is to provide organisations with a dedicated work messaging environment where employees and AI agents can collaborate without mixing business activity with personal conversations.
