Deezer plans to introduce a new setting that lets listeners hide fully AI-generated songs, albums, and associated artists from search results. The optional feature is expected to launch before the end of 2026.

The music streaming company announced the feature on October 13, in response to requests for greater control over synthetic content. Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier said listeners should be able to focus exclusively on music created by human artists if they choose.

Deezer Expands AI Music Detection

Deezer introduced its AI music detection technology in January 2025, when synthetic tracks accounted for approximately 10% of daily uploads. By July 2026, the company reported receiving around 90,000 AI-generated tracks per day, representing more than half of submissions.

The company has since expanded its detection capabilities, including a dedicated AI music detector. These tools help identify tracks produced entirely through generative AI rather than recordings that incorporate AI into human-led music production.

Listener Demand Drives the New Feature

A November 2025 Deezer and Ipsos survey of 9,000 people across eight countries found that 45% of music streaming users wanted the ability to exclude fully AI-generated music. The study also found that 80% supported clear labelling of synthetic tracks.

The survey highlighted the difficulty of distinguishing synthetic recordings from human performances. In a listening test, 97% of participants failed to identify every AI-generated and human-made track correctly.

Music Streaming Services Adopt Different AI Policies

Music platforms have taken different approaches to generative AI. Bandcamp has banned AI-generated tracks, while Tidal has restricted monetisation for AI music. Spotify has focused on labelling synthetic content rather than prohibiting it.

Apple Music is also preparing additional transparency measures. According to an August 2026 Variety report, Apple plans to introduce labels identifying AI-generated music before the end of the year.

Deezer has not announced an exact launch date for its new setting. This approach will preserve access to synthetic music while letting listeners choose a more selective streaming experience.
