Anthropic may reach $900B+ valuation in upcoming funding round within weeks

Anthropic is moving quickly toward closing its latest funding round, with investors reportedly asked to submit their allocation commitments within the next 48 hours, according to people familiar with the discussions. The round is expected to total around $50 billion and could be finalised within the next two weeks, the sources said.

As reported earlier, Anthropic is aiming for a valuation of approximately $900 billion. However, with investor appetite continuing to surge, sources indicate that the final valuation could exceed that target.

Despite strong demand, not all existing investors plan to participate. Some early backers — particularly those who entered in 2024 or earlier — are choosing to sit out this round, opting instead to wait for a potential liquidity event tied to the company’s expected IPO later this year.

This upcoming raise is widely viewed as Anthropic’s final private funding round before it transitions to the public markets. The capital is expected to support the company’s rapidly growing infrastructure needs, particularly the massive computing resources required to develop and scale advanced AI systems.

Earlier this month, Anthropic disclosed that its annual revenue run rate had exceeded $30 billion. However, according to sources with insight into the company’s financial performance, the actual run rate is currently closer to $40 billion.

The company last raised funding in February at a valuation of $380 billion. If the new round closes at or above $900 billion, Anthropic would more than double its valuation in a matter of months. It would also move ahead of its primary competitor, OpenAI, which recently completed a record-setting $122 billion funding round at an $852 billion post-money valuation.
