Indian fintech company Navi has secured a $100 million investment from Prosus, bringing outside institutional capital to the Sachin Bansal-founded company for the first time since its establishment in 2018.

The investment is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals, including clearance from the Competition Commission of India. Navi has not publicly disclosed the valuation for the transaction, although outside reports have put it at about $1.3 billion.

Navi takes its first institutional investment.

Bansal founded Bengaluru-based Navi after leaving Flipkart, the e-commerce company he co-founded with Binny Bansal in 2007. Walmart acquired a majority stake in Flipkart in a $16 billion transaction in 2018, with Sachin Bansal selling his stake and later using substantial amounts of his own capital to build Navi.

Navi now operates across several financial services businesses, including digital payments, lending, insurance and mutual funds. Its lending subsidiary, Navi Finserv, has more than ₹130 billion in assets under management.

Sachin Bansal, Navi’s founder and executive chairman, described the Prosus investment as an endorsement of the financial institution the company is building.

“Their investment is a strong endorsement of the institution we're building at Navi.”

Bansal also said Navi values Prosus’ global perspective, long-term approach and experience scaling technology companies.

Funding arrives as Navi considers another IPO

The investment comes as Navi prepares for a possible return to India’s public markets. The company is reportedly considering an initial public offering that could raise about ₹30 billion, or roughly $314 million, with discussions also pointing to a potential valuation of up to $2 billion.

Navi previously pursued an IPO in 2022, filing draft documents for an offering of up to ₹33.5 billion. It received regulatory approval later that year but ultimately deferred the listing as market conditions weakened.

The latest funding gives Navi institutional backing before any renewed listing attempt. Prosus also has a long history with Bansal, as its parent company Naspers was previously an investor in Flipkart.

UPI becomes a major part of Navi’s business

Navi has built a significant presence in India’s Unified Payments Interface market. Its app ranked as the country’s fourth-largest UPI application, behind PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm, in the source data.

In July, Navi processed more than 947 million UPI transactions with a combined value of about ₹483.18 billion. The payment service also helps Navi bring users into its broader financial platform, which includes lending and investment products.

The company reported ₹30.91 billion in revenue for the financial year ended March 2026. Its consolidated net loss widened to ₹4.66 billion, while Navi said it reached consolidated profitability during the fourth quarter of the fiscal year.

The Prosus investment provides Navi with fresh capital as it continues to develop its payments and financial services businesses while evaluating another attempt to enter India’s public markets.
