Skylight may have originally built its brand around digital photo frames. Still, the company’s focus today is firmly on helping families manage daily life through shared calendars, lists, and planning tools.

At CES 2026, Skylight introduced its newest device, the Skylight Calendar 2. The updated model features a more streamlined design than the original 15-inch calendar, while remaining smaller than the company’s 27-inch wall-mounted Calendar Max. Like Skylight’s other displays, Calendar 2 allows users to swap out frames in different colours to better blend with home décor.

While the hardware has been refined, Skylight’s core value lies in its software and AI-driven features. At the centre is the shared calendar, which consolidates schedules from a wide range of services, including Google Calendar, iCal, Microsoft calendars, and children’s sports platforms such as TeamSnap.

The calendar uses colour-coding to make it easy to see each family member’s schedule at a glance. It can also import information from less traditional sources, such as emails containing important dates or paper flyers sent home from school. Using AI, parents can photograph a piece of paper, and the system automatically extracts and adds relevant events to the calendar.

Beyond scheduling, Skylight aims to simplify other everyday household tasks. The platform supports shared grocery lists, appointment reminders, meal planning, and recipe discovery, while also functioning as a digital photo frame when not in use.

The interface is designed to be accessible to all ages, with clear visuals, simple navigation, and colourful imagery. Younger children, for example, can mark chores as complete by matching icons or pictures, even if they are not yet able to read.

Meal planning is another area where Skylight leans heavily into convenience. Parents can log simple notes, such as taco night”, or select full recipes to generate shopping lists. The system can automatically compile ingredient lists and send them directly to services such as Instacart.

Another AI-powered feature lets users photograph their refrigerator contents and receive recipe suggestions based on available ingredients.

The demand for these tools appears strong. Skylight, which has been bootstrapped and profitable since its inception, reports that more than 1.3 million families are currently using its digital calendar products. With the launch of Calendar 2, that number is expected to grow as the redesigned device reaches more households.
