Spotify Launches User Notes to Let Users Add Personal Memories to Songs
Spotify has introduced User Notes, a feature that lets listeners add personal memories and captions to songs within their playlists.
Spotify is introducing a new feature called User Notes, giving listeners a way to add personal notes to individual songs within their playlists.
Announced on Thursday, the feature allows users to attach captions to tracks, making it easier to remember why a song was added or the moment they first heard it.
For example, a listener could note that they discovered a song while walking through the streets of Paris during a holiday or that it was playing during a memorable first date.
Spotify aims to make playlists more personal
The company said User Notes is designed to strengthen the personal connection tion people have with their playlists by preserving the memories associated with specific songs.
The feature also gives Spotify another way to distinguish its service from competitors such as Apple Music and YouTube Music by adding a journaling-style element that goes beyond music discovery.
“Over time, these notes paint a picture of the music listeners love and the moments that shaped it,” Spotify said.
“User Notes transforms playlists from a collection of songs into a more personal space for music discovery — bringing together personalisation and added context around the music that listeners love,” Spotify said.
Available on free and Premium plans
User Notes is rolling out to Spotify users aged 16 and older across both free and Premium subscription plans in selected markets.
To use the feature, listeners need to open a playlist they created or one that contains songs they previously added.
After tapping the three-dot menu beside a track, users can select “Add note,” type a personal message and save it.
The note will then appear alongside the song for anyone who has access to view the playlist, with the author's name linking back to their Spotify profile.
Spotify also debuts Rauthor’sode
User Notes was not the only feature Spotify introduced on Thursday.
The streaming service also unveiled Running Mode, a new listening experience that automatically queues music for different stages of a workout while selecting tracks based on a runner’s preferences and pace.
Running Mode is currently available to Premium subscribers in selected countries.
Together, the two features highlight Spotify’s continued effort to make its platform more personalised through tools that enhance both everyday listening and fitness.
